Relaxing evening sessions that will increase your confidence with colour, and take your work in new expressive directions.

Colour is powerful! As well as setting the mood and feeling in your work, colour can be used to heighten sense of space and distance in beautiful ways.

This is one of two evening workshops:
- In Session 1, we'll explore some basic colour techniques, using watercolour to increase our observational skills, and understand how colours can harmonise and contrast to creative effect. We'll also explore how value, saturation and hue can create greater illusion of depth.

- In Session 2, we'll take inspiration from nature to widen the scope of our colour choices, exploring seasonal variation as well as symbolic colour and abstract landscapes. If you have them, please bring a selection of photographs taken in nature to work from.

Accompanied by warm-up exercises and examples from artists throughout.

If you have watercolours, brushes and heavy-weight watercolour paper that you already like using, please bring them along. But a small selection of these materials will also be available.

Car-shares may be available to anyone wishing to travel across from Lerwick. (Please just mention this when booking). The session will finish at 9.30, in time for the 9.45pm ferry.
