Exhibition at Speldiburn Cafe

As part of their exhibitions originally for Wool Week visitors, a few of my textile-themed drawings are still on display at Speldiburn Cafe.

I’m fascinated by historical machinery and equipment used in weaving and spinning, made unique through age and use. Some of the drawings currently on display were made in 2017 after visiting Farfield Mill, an Arts and Heritage Centre in Cumbria. Many similar items can also be found here in Shetland however, remnants from the islands’ often overlooked but once very active weaving industry.

Also featured are two views of a very old 'Shetland Spinney', completed during all the chaos and uncertainty of lockdown in 2020 - a cathartic experience of thinking about time whilst drawing.

Thankyou Speldiburn Cafe. Open hours are 11-3, Tues to Sat.
